For the past eight years, I’ve been working primarily with jewellery, while gradually expanding into furniture, objects, and artworks. My background in architecture continues to shape how I think about form, structure, and materials.

I previously ran showrooms at The Shelter in Ponsonby and at Nobody’s in Auckland CBD. I’m now based between New Zealand and China, continuing to explore new ideas, make new work, and share it here with you.

I’m Kevin Hailiang Yu, the designer behind Kevin Thorne. I grew up in China and later moved to New Zealand to continue my studies in architecture. After completing my Master’s degree and spending four years working in the architectural design industry, I felt the need to step away and focus on developing my own design voice.

I’m Kevin Hailiang Yu, the designer behind Kevin Thorne. I grew up in China and later moved to New Zealand to continue my studies in architecture. After completing my Master’s degree and spending four years working in the architectural design industry, I felt the need to step away and focus on developing my own design voice.
